Renesas HEW Target Server Design Contest 2008

Type: Programming Contest

Eligibility: Any individual or group of individuals entering the Renesas HEW Target Server Design Contest 2008 must be 18 years of age or older.

Deadline: July 4, 2008.

How to Enter the Contest:
Register for the Contest at www.RenesasInteractive.com/HTScontest2008/register. Optionally, and while supplies last, you may choose to receive a Contest kit. Requests for Contest kits require Contestant to spend a minimum of 30 minutes in a RenesasInteractive VirtuaLab and pass a short VirtuaLab quiz. Create your Entry (An “Entry” is a complete design including all documentation, code, schematics, materials, designs, etc. that are submitted as directed herein for consideration in the Contest). Scuba Diving Photo contest 2008

Type: Photo Contest

Eligibility: The competition is open to photographers anywhere in the world.

Deadline and entry fees: March 15, 2008. The fees are $10 per entry.

Condoleezza Rice wants to know what you think about The Challenges Facing The American Foreign Service In The 21st Century (Essey Contest 2008)

Type: Essay Contest

Eligibility: All students in grades nine through 12 attending a public, private, parochial school, home school or participating in a high school correspondence program in any of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territories, or, if they are U.S. citizens attending schools overseas, are eligible.

Timing: April 15, 2008

How to Enter the Contest:
In 750 to 1,000 words, discuss the following topic:
Analyze and explain what you think will be the Challenges Facing the American Foreign Service in the 21 st Century
In writing your essay, use the following as your guideline:
* Select one or several specific international issues that you think will be major challenges to the American Foreign Service in carrying out a successful U.S. foreign policy in the new century, and explain why you have chosen these issues.
* Describe and analyze the role of members of the United States Foreign Service in conducting diplomacy to resolve one or more of these particular issues and discuss the immediate consequences.
* Keep in mind the United States national interests include, among other issues: national security, countering terrorism, protection of American citizens, human rights, democratization, free market economics, free trade, and sustainable economic development.

Submit four collated copies of your essay, with title page, numbered and including sources. Attach and staple one registration form to your completed essay. All submissions must include a word count, excluding the list of sources and the registration form. Entries must be typed, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman or an equivalent font with a one-inch margin on all sides of the page. Standards of content and style from MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 6th ed., will be expected for (1) documentation of sources in the text of your essay (see chapter 5); (2) the format of the list of works cited (see sample page at end of the MLA Handbook); and (3) margins and indentation (see sample page also of Handbook). You must include your name, home address, phone number, an e-mail address and the name and address of your school and/or sponsor. Attach and staple one registration form to your completed essay. You and your teacher must sign this registration form.

Rainforest Alliance's "Picture Sustainability" Photo Contest 2008

Type: Photo Contest

Eligibility: Open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older as of the date the contest begins.

Timing: December 21, 2007 - March 15, 2008

How to Enter the Contest: Please enter the contest by completing the on-line submission form and submitting your original photograph electronically at www.raphotocontest.org. Entries must be submitted in JPEG format (as .jpg files) and should be at least 1MB but shall not exceed 5MB. No photo montages or composite images will be accepted. If your photograph(s) include a recognizable person or people, you must secure permission from each person (or in the case of a minor, the minor's parent or guardian) to use his/her image in the photo contes.
Five categories include:
1. Wildlife on coffee, cocoa and fruit farms, in forests or other natural habitats (insects, birds, reptiles and amphibians, mammals and fish).
2. Landscape/Scenic (tropical forests, temperate forests, boreal forests, rivers, streams and waterfalls, flowers and plants, beaches, wetlands, coral reefs).
3. Sustainable tourism in Latin America (hiking, bird-watching, mountain biking and other land-based nature activities, surfing, scuba, kayaking, snorkeling and other coastal or marine activities, other eco-tourism related subjects).
4. Macro (insects, flowers and plants, leafy vegetation, birds, reptiles and amphibians, mammals and textures).
5. Conservation in action (children and/or adults conserving natural resources, including water, flora and fauna).

Eligibility: Open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry and are not a professional photographer.

Timing: December 1, 2007 - May 31, 2008

How to Enter the Contest: During the Submission Phase, visit www.canonestore.com/babyphoto and follow the links and instructions to upload one photo of your baby. By submission of a Photo, you grant permission to Sponsor to post your Photo to an online viewing gallery during the Submission phase. After submission and verification that your Photo conforms to the Guidelines and Restrictions (defined below), your Photo may appear in the online viewing gallery throughout the Submission Phase. Baby featured in the Photo must be less than one year of age at the time of entry. You must be the parent or legal guardian of the Baby and you must be the original photographer of the Photo (or received a written release in a form acceptable to the Sponsor from the copyright holder of the Photo).
